The Legal Aid Ministries Low Income Taxpayer Guidelines: Because LAM’s goal is to provide free legal assistance to low-income residents in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, we have income guidelines regarding the people or families we can serve. Income guidelines use a percentage of the federal poverty income amount. We are able only to provide pro bono (free of charge) representation if a client’s income does not exceed 175% of what the Federal government considers to be the poverty level (based on the Department of Health and Human Services Annual Federal Poverty Guidelines).

The chart listed on the left shows you how much you have to earn (depending on the Household Size) to be at 175% of the Federal HHS Annual Poverty Guidelines. “Household Size” is the total number of people in your household or family.

If your family makes less money than listed in this table, then you qualify for most of our low-income services.

You will need to complete some financial information and provide proof of income to help us correctly determine how we can help.

Exceptions: We will meet with a client for an initial appointment to provide them with some direction if their income is over 175% of the HHS Poverty Guidelines.
