Conflict Coaches

The goal of our conflict resolution services is to promote justice and peace through a program of educational outreach, counseling, and out-of-court resolution of disputes by mediation and arbitration as a way of demonstrating God’s mercy and compassion to those in need.”

Legal Aid Ministries provides a four session, eight hour, training session on how to help people in conflict.  Conflict coaching involves meeting with one person and helping them see their role in a conflict rather than focusing on the other person and helping them create a plan on how they can address their attitudes and actions in this and future conflicts.

Conciliation (Peacemaker Counseling Approach)

Legal Aid Ministries works with Peacemaker Ministries in training our conciliators, and we recommend that you visit their site at www.Peacemakers.net

Our conciliators emphasize reconciling and restoring relationships in broken families.

They work in teams of two – one male and one female.  Most of our conciliation counselors are not attorneys, but all are Christian men and women.

Mediation and Arbitration

Legal Aid Ministries provides mediation and arbitration services.  Individuals must complete training through a court recognized program.  Mediators are attorneys.

Our mediators help facilitate an agreement between parties who have contacted us for this purpose and entered into a written agreement for mediation.  Mediation is completely separate from legal services and no one at Legal Aid Ministries may offer legal advice to any of the parties involved in mediation.

Arbitration involves a panel of attorneys who act as judges and render a court-enforceable decision.  An attorney needs to have training and be recognized by the court system to participate in arbitration.

Financial Counselors

The goal of our financial services is “to server others" through a program of educational outreach, counseling, and low income tax payer assistance, as a way of demonstrating God’s mercy and compassion to those in need.”

Many of the underlying problems faced by families coming to us for assistance include managing limited resources.   We believe in empowering individuals through education so they can better address the next crisis that comes.  Our counselors help people understand how to establish a spending plan, pay down debt, build up savings, balance a checking account, purchase a home, have a will and other wise money management principles.

Often our counselors can help individuals with tax issues which in certain circumstances can make a big difference through a proper understanding of the earned income tax credit, child tax credit, child care credit, dependency exemptions, qualifying relative, head of household and other significant tax credits and deductions.

Together We Can Make A Difference...

“ Discourage litigation.  Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can.  Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser in fees, expenses and waste of time.  As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man.”  Abraham Lincoln.

“Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God.”  Matthew 5:9.
